The research project Mapping Corporate Denmark focuses on the development of the largest Danish companies in last 30 years. The database consists of key figures of the largest 115 Danish corporations - such as AP Møller-Mærsk, Novo Nordisk, Danske Bank, Danish Crown and Carlsberg. This research project will analyse the growth of these largest corporations from three perspectives:
  • Did the largest corporations become more important for the Danish economy which traditionally have been marked by SMEs?
  • Was the strategic and structural development of the largest Danish corporations different from the development in other European countries - if so, how and why?
  • Have the development since 1970 been marked by periods of stagnation and periods of rapid internationationalization/globalization of the largest Danish corporations?

13 March 2007 New European Research Network
In December 2006, the Danish Research Council, (FSE) awarded Dr. Martin Iversen a grant for a new research network called Corporate Response to Institutional Change. The research network will be used to apply for the FP7 grant, and hopefully in the long-term it will lead to an extension of Mapping Corporate Denmark database. The project is in collaboration with Associate Professor Andrea Colli from Bocconi University in Italy, and Professor John Wilson, from Central Lancashire University in England.

08 July 2005 Possible European Extension of the Corporate Denmark Database
Mapping Corporate Denmark 1970-2005 research has shown that since 1970 the largest Danish companies has become much larger and thus more important for the national economy. An interesting question is to what extent this structural change is a particular Danish phenomenon or whether the liberalization of international trade has lead to further growth of the largest enterprises in the European countries. On this background it have been decided to investigate whether it could be possible to make an European extension of the Mapping Corporate Denmark 1970-2005 research project.
